What is HVOF?
 
High Velocity Oxygen Fuel(HVOF) is a thermal spray system applied via a HVOF spray process using either a gas fuel or liquid fuel HVOF gun. When the fuel and oxygen mix, they combust and are able to be propelled out of the thermal spray gun at ultrasonic speeds! The HVOF process is what improves the bond strength and provides high density, high bond strength, optimum hardness, improved toughness, and higher coating thickness. 
 
Depending on chemistry or other factors, the short dwell time and lower temperature of HVOF can produce wear-resistant coatings with excellent impact resistance, improving its toughness.
 
How to choose the right diamond wheel in HVOF WC Coating Grinding?
 
The hardness of HVOF coatings requires that they be ground with a diamond wheel. Diamond is the hardest material known in nature, and it’s suitable for processing hard and brittle materials such as cemented carbide, engineering ceramics, glass, semiconductor materials ferrite, gemstones ect. Also it is the highest material known to man and by applying diamond to HVOF grinding wheels, Diamond wheels can grind substantially higher levels of the coating compared to conventional wheels. It maintains its size and has an exceptionally longer life.
 
The key to grinding HVOF coatings is following correct procedures for diamond wheels, including but not limited to the proper selection of the HVOF grinding wheel, grit size, grade and bond type, proper mounting and balancing for the truing and dressing of the wheel prior to grinding. Grinding and processing thermal spray workpieces with resin diamond grinding wheel can achieve good processing results and good economic benefits. Resin bond diamond grinding wheel have the features of good self-sharpening, sharp cutting, high efficiency, low roughness of work piece surface, few heat generating and without burning work piece. They are suitable for high efficiency and precision grinding of most workpieces.
